Ready to Launch: Career Counseling for Post-Secondary Success

WHO WE ARE

The Ready to Launch Career Counselor program is part of the groundbreaking Wayne RESA Workforce Development Initiative. Created to accelerate students' exposure to career resources, Wayne RESA has hired full-time dedicated Career Counselors to increase access for students to career and post-secondary options. Each Career Counselor is highly skilled, holding a Master's degree in counseling, counseling certification and a minimum of five years of high school counseling experience.

WHAT WE DO

RESA Career Counselors work in partnership with each high school counseling staff in an easy and accessible process that fits the counselors' work with students. With a focus on meeting students where they are, Career Counselors provide customized career counseling to individual students and small groups. Individualized post-secondary Action Plans give students a roadmap to achieving their goals. Parents are given opportunities to support their students' Action Plans, with specific steps to success.

HOW WE ARE GROWING

The Ready to Launch program has scaled within one year to service multiple high schools across Wayne County for the 2018-19 school year, increasing students' access to career and post-secondary opportunities.
